Mortimer 2023

First, the basics.

When:  3/25/23

Who:  Full team – 6 dudes

            Ultra team – 3 dudes

Where: Hickory Crawdads Stadium (2500 Clement Blvd NW, Hickory, NC 28601)

Time:  TBD

Why:  If you have to ask, we’d rather you do this instead of our race.

Cost:  $600.00 – full team

           $300.00 – ultra team

What?  Yes, you read that right.  We’re charging you for this year’s race.  Race Committee’s reasoning for this is two fold:  

• we want this race to seem relatively legit
• we want to donate to specific charity that works to keep Wilson Creek a great place
• we need a new pair of shoes

Ok, last one is a joke.  Your fee will go towards some much needed race infastructure.  Decent signs, portajohns, trail markers, etc.  We’ve always said we want this thing to be as safe as possible.  This year, we mean it.  Plus, it’s still a dang cheap race.  Don’t hold your breath but you might even get a shirt.  That aforementioned shirt may be one that we find at the local thrift shop, but still….just maybe.  

The vast majority of the entry fee will go to A Clean Wilson Creek.  RC and friends met up with these guys a few weeks ago.  Great folks.  Great cause.  They need ducketts to renovate the old Mortimer CCC building & upfit it to act as a learning center.  You can check them out here for more info.

In case you haven’t heard the old Leg 3 that went up & down Hibriten Mtn is no more.  RC and the guy that lives at the foot of Hibriten recently had a conversation and we both agreed that he’s a clown.  As a result, we had to re-consider the entire route.    

Stay tuned for updates.  Race Bible is still cooking.
