First: I’m not a fan of rucking.
Second: Plenty of you have made it clear that you feel the same way that I do.
Lots of junk talk on Friday mornings from Ram guys to the Friday AM Ruckers. Like this: “Hey, better hurry up so you don’t miss Study Hall”. “Bring me back a mocha too, will ya?”. Or “Man, I wish I could take the morning off, too.”
And you ruckers take it like champs. A bunch of thick-skinned champs. For that, T-Claps to you.
For the past 2 or so years, I’ve rucked only a handful of times. Mainly it’s been a required ruck to qualify for the Parade of Horribles. Over that same span of time, these things called GrowRucks have been happening. And over the last year or so, we hear about them constantly. All 3 of the F3 podcasts talk about them. Constantly. Grow this. Ruck that. Yackiddy yak. Blah Blah.
But I’ve been listening the whole time. I’ve been watching the videos (see the one below). You hear the stories about how these things have changed a dude’s life. How much impact they have on a man. And even more, you hear about the impact that they have on a region as a whole. These events are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd F’s for an entire weekend.
What does Dredd say in Q Source? Change doesn’t always come easy. Get out of your comfort zone. Disruption is good. Disturb the Status Quo. Leaders influence movement to advantage.
So maybe there’s something more to this than walking around with a knapsack? Will it be hard? Will you end up with sand up your a$$ crack? Will there be parts of this that really really really suck? Will you want to quit?
