Ok, so you may be wondering about that title. Slack had a thread going about changing my name. I have been known to bring a snack cake to a workout to give out at the end. Most of the time, it’s honey buns or TastyKake donuts, thus the discussion to change my name. I got Doughboy back in November of 2016 at the opening of The Mount since I work for a baking company. By the way, I was not petitioning to change my name…..
The Warmup:

ATT x10
LAC x10

The thing:
The plan was to run to the pull up bars at New Hope, but since Whipping Stick has a great pull up tree that is a lot closer, I decided to take the shorter run. At the pull up tree, I introduced the guys to the Crossfit workout “Cindy.” We did 3 rounds of 5 pull ups, 10 merkins, and 15 squats. This isn’t the official “Cindy” workout. It’s a 20 minute AMRAP of this.
After this, we headed back to the warm up spot but on the way, each PAX grabbed a MOUNT coupon from my truck. Cousin Eddie had to comment about the MOUNT blocks, not happy that they don’t have handles on both sides. For the next part of the workout, we did 25 block merkins followed by 25 thrusters, then a lap around half of the parking lot. After each lap, we took 5 reps off and ran another lap, and so on all the way down to 5 reps. This created some grumbling by the guys, but they enjoyed it. Next up was 30 reps of LBC’s around the parking lot – 4 stops. We were on the way back to the starting point after the last set of 30 and YHC made a pit stop to grab another coupon for the next exercise. For this exercise, 1 PAX carried 2 of the coupons for a lap around half of the parking lot while the remaining 4 PAX did AMRAP of different exercises. We did Curls for the Girls 2x, Bent Over Rows, and 2 other things that I can’t remember. There was a little time left and we hadn’t done our customary Whipping Stick burpees, so we ran to the bottom of the stairs for stair work and burpees. Run up each stair and at the landings do 3 burpees. Finally done with the work out, we had the count off, name-a-rama a COT.
For the WOD, I was prepared to use a devotional that I get in my email on Mondays and Thursdays, but I read something Friday night that I thought was much more fitting. I didn’t know how fitting it was at the time, but that’s God’s providence. During the COT, a couple of comments were made about lifting each other up and supporting each other and Tooth Fairy provided the perfect segue. Here’s the words from that COT:
Running beside someone who is struggling in the race they’ve been given to run is powerful.
Yesterday I watched my son track down and run beside my daughter in her last cross country meet. I watched his friend run with his big sister. I watched teammates huddle up and run their friend to the finish line and I watched a dad run step by step beside his son who was ready to quit.
It’s showing up up and saying “I can’t run this race FOR you, but I’m willing to run it WITH you.”
See, running our own race is important, but being willing to be interrupted to help someone else run theirs is important, too.
We’ve all been given a “race” to run. Some days it all can feel like it’s too much.
Today, how can YOU help someone else run well? How can you speak life into weary places? How can you encourage someone who doesn’t know that they can continue? How can you hold up arms that are ready to drop? How can you use the gifts you’ve been given to help others be able to use theirs?
It matters.
F3 is great in many ways but I think that this is one area that we can excel – being there for each other and supporting each other. We all know PAX that aren’t coming or feel out of touch so let’s reach out to them and help them run their race – we can’t run it for them, but we can run it with them.
