Back in March 3-Dog and YHC set out to do the Vertical Mile Challenge at Rocky Face Park. Little did we know at that time that Rocky Face would become Taylorsville’s second and definitely one of the nastiest AO’s. And here a couple months ago we did just that we finally set up Rattlesnake Ridge and have been having tons of fun walking/running and pain stations. And tonight was a mile stone for three of the Pax in attendance. Let’s hear it for Kit-Kat as he just completed his 1 mile VMC. 3-Dog and YHC got out 5 mile VMC. Now just to put into words. The 1 mile is 8, 2.2 mile loops and after you finish your 8th loop you have climbed a vertical mile up the rock face and a total of 17.6 miles. And the 5 mile is 40, 2.2 mile loops and on the 40th loop you have climbed 5 vertical miles up the rock face and a total of 88 miles. It is a tough but beautiful AO if you haven’t had the chance to make it out yet just ask Taz, Crop Duster, and Cousin Eddie how much fun this place is. So any way enough about the AO here’s what went down.
SSH x 15 ic
Carolina Drydocks x 10 ic
Squats x 10 ic
Ok enough of that stuff let’s start the VMC loop. Mosey about 1/4 mile up the trail and raccoon craw a downed tree the crosses a ditch. This is a site to see. Mosey to the picnic tables and the camp site for Incline Merkins x 10 ic. Mosey the rest of the way to the rock face. At Pickle Pounder Point stop and do 10 pickle pounders ic. Mosey up to the half way point on rock face now here the angel of the rock gets a lot steeper we did 10 I guess you can call them Incline LBC’s ic. These were fun because when you go back down you would slid down the rock. And off we go again. We made another stop and did some Incline planks and then walk backwards up the slope about 25-30 yards. Then we finished the mosey to the top. Once at the top we did 10 Copperhead Squats ic and 10 Merkins ic. Now it’s all down hill from here. We carried a good pace half way back down and made one more stop so YHC come inform Pax of the last thing that was planned. 1/2 mile Indian Run back to the bottom. And done.
We had a great time tonight and I want to send out a big thanks to our guests that came tonight I hope you guys had as much fun as YHC did. We did have a few crashes on the way back down. Our newest and youngest member took a big trip and fall, but this little dude just bounced right back up and kept going. Rogue took one nasty fall coming off the last rock face and YHC thinks it was caught on the GoPro. Taz you need to check for that one. And for one last bit of work PBJ had a birthday yesterday and he called out 10 Merkins IC like a pro. And I also want the give a shout out to the other Pax that have gotten their 1 mile VMC shirt. Pedro Martini, Baby Murr, Rogue, Staples, 2.0 Sweatbee, and if I’m forgetting someone my apologies.
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:2-3
