COT: Once, in a small village, there was a stone cutter who was unhappy with himself. Despite his strong arms and skilled hands, he felt ordinary. One sunny day, while chiseling a rock, he saw a wealthy merchant passing by. “I wish I was rich like him,” he thought, and to his astonishment, he turned into a wealthy merchant.
Now with silk robes and a grand house, he felt important. However, the summer sun made him sweat in his fancy attire. He looked up at the sun and thought, “How powerful the sun is! I wish I were the sun.” And just like that, he became the sun.
As the sun, he felt invincible. He shone fiercely, drying up fields and rivers. But soon, a cloud came and blocked his rays. “That cloud! It’s more powerful than me. I wish I were a cloud.” And he became a cloud.
As a cloud, he felt mighty, showering rain everywhere, causing floods. But soon he realized, no matter how much he rained, the mountain beneath remained unmoved. “This mountain is more powerful than me. I wish I were the mountain.” And he turned into a mountain.
Standing tall, he felt superior. But one day, he felt something chipping away at his base. He looked down to see a small figure with a chisel and hammer. It was a stone cutter cutting away stone for the village’s new church.
In that moment, he realized that real power didn’t come from wishing to be someone else or having what others have. Real power came from recognizing and valuing our own unique strengths and persisting in our endeavors AND USING THOSE STRENGTHS TO GLORIFY THE ALMIGHTY AND MOST POWERFUL.
