At YHC’s last Ram Q, there was an early missed turn that resulted in a longer run and a later finish than expected, which, of course, YHC has had to hear about regularly (in addition to all the other moments YHC has shown himself to be directionally challenged).  So, for redemption, YHC attempted the same course today.  Successful completion, so a good start to the day…

Warmup: Typical – Little Baby Arm Circles, Imperial Walkers, Hillbillies, Humpies

The Thang:  almost a 3 mile loop around LR, with 5 stops.

Stop 1 – 25 Merkins, 50 LBC’s

Stop 2 – 20 Squats, 40 Gas Pumps

Stop 3 – 15 Merkins, 30 LBC’s

Stop 4 – 10 Squats, 20 Gas Pumps

Stop 5 – 5 Merkins, 10 LBC’s

Time left, so group-led exercises.  Phlegm led a 10 count Asheville abs, Crosstitch led Dying Bug, and Ferdinand led a Merkin Circle to close us out.

Mumblechatter was pretty solid, and ranged from the expected crude (discussion about an upcoming run in the Grand Canyon went south quickly) to the educational (filet mignon is from the psoas major muscle, which is near the backside.  Which is why lions go for the rear end first.  May or may not be true, but does that really matter?) to the entertaining (one impersonation of the professor from the old Tootsie Roll commercial – “how many licks does it take…” – was…memorable…)

WOD:  Fear is inevitable, but our faith needs to be stronger than fear.  Faith is not the absence of fear, it’s trusting God in the face of fear.  It’s not a sin to have fear of something, but it is a sin to allow that fear to keep you from following Christ.  Faith replaces fear, but not without a fight.  In our lives, as husbands, fathers, leaders, there are plenty of things to create fear – losing a job, family health, etc.  It is those times that we need to be especially diligent about reaching out to God, to fight to keep our faith stronger than our fear, and trust God to lead us through.
