Weather: 60. Humid, with a touch of Swamp. No surprises here.
Thang:
Warmups. Standard: SSH, ATT, Humpties. Jane Fondas added to see that Abe would start grumbling about doing these. He did not disappoint.
Mosey around track, with a stop at the visitor’s bleacher. Bunny Hops to the top. Continue mosey to my sweet ride to pick up the Sand Babies. But first, a quick Group Squat to ensure extreme uncomfort from all Swamp Skeggers. They did not disappoint.
Mosey w/ Sand Babies back to the foosball field. Leave them alone for the time being.
Lunge walk distance of football field. Stop every 10 yards for 5 star jumps. Reach 100 yards, sprint back to start.
Broad jump 100 yards, stopping every 10 yard to give me 5 merkins. Sprint back.
Shorty took over Q for a round of Asheville Abs @ 8 count.
Russian Twist IC 15
Gas Pumps IC. 15
Sand Baby Bear Crawl to 50 yard line.
Next, number of reps was 50. Exercises w/ Sand Babies called:
- Curls
- Russian Twists
- Squats
- Manager’s Choice (left it for the pax to choose): Bent Over Rows
Once each exercise was complete, pax to run across field, up visitor’s bleacher’s and back. Pax were also given the choice to finish each exercise with an amount Hand Release Merkins so the total number was 50 reps. IE: Do 30 curls, and then 20 HR Merkins. Or 10 Curls and 40 HRM. Or 5 Curls and 45 HRM. You get the point, right?
On the last lap as if he was told to do so, Abe started talking to Cat Daddy about Old ER and how miserable it was. Little did he know that that was the last exercise that we were getting ready to do. Or at least as close as I could come given the pancake flat terrain. We needed 5 stops. While carrying the Sand Babies:
- Stop 1: Top left corner of home bleachers for 20 LBC/20 Merkins
- Stop 2: Top right corner of home bleachers for 20 Merkins
- Stop 3: At the goalpost for 20 LBCs
- Stop 4: Top right corner of visitor’s bleachers for 20 Merkins
- Stop 5: Top left corner of visitor’s bleachers for 20 LBCs
Time’s Up.
WOD: Iron Sharpens Iron. It really does. While he wasn’t the only pax that has or continues to push me, Abraham certainly gets credit for being the original dancing idiot that talked me into dipping my toe into the Pool of Stupid. See P200, BRR and Parade of Horribles as examples of what you may find in the PoS.
This Q was 2 years in the making. 2 years and 4 months to be exact. That’s when my man Abraham left the HKY for Manning. No one doubted that he would plant a shovel flag down in the Swamp. While we were dining at the mildly mediocre Garden of Eden restaurant, I promised him that I would come down to Q a workout there. It was great to meet some more fellas from the Swamp to see how he’s changing their lives and how they are changing other men around them. This F3 thing just might work after all.
Private/Public Notes to Self:
- No, I’m not a stalker and I don’t keep tabs on the date and month that Abe left the HKY. Your boy here just did a quick search to find out when F3 Manning started to determine how long ago he left.
- Additionally, the only reason that I know I made that promise to him at the Garden of Eden was because that was the only place I could ever get him to eat.
- Exact weight of Sand Babies is unknown. Estimated most were 50’ish lbs. I offered to leave them in Manning, but they made it back to the HKY. Will gladly drop off 8 or so at the AO that wants them.
- Not a ton of mumblechatter, but Cat Daddy sounds exactly like Abe.
- This can be confusing at times.
- Apparently Omaha will call an audible on an exercise he doesn’t like. True to form, I could tell he was not in the mood to start the Jane Fondas. Thanks for yielding, boss.
- Rumor is, the Skeggers will have a team for the Mortimer 100 relay. or at the very least, Bluegrass is an HC.
- Bluegrass is approximately 6′-10′, 350 lbs.
- Fast Pitch of Turbeville fame is also a runner. Maybe we’ll have a Turbeville team for M100 as well?
- if so, practice up on that 20 foot hill boss!
- Wingman didn’t set his alarm this am.
- Waldo with the Show Up Early and Stay in Your Whip until 5:58 Award
- The Pool Of Stupid is deep. Waaaaay deep. But fun. Come join me, will you?
- Breakfast afterwards was a great spot. This joint didn’t even have a menu. You just told the little sweet lady what she needed to make for you and they whipped it up.
- On the way out of town, Shorty and I were fortunate enough to stop by the renowned Reynolds Farm – off of Reynolds Road – to see a bit of history. And (finally) have some SC BBQ that wasn’t drowned in mustard. His cousin had cooked 2 pigs and they were fantastic. To eat that is.
- Even got to have some hash. That junk was worth the trip in itself. So dang good.
- I can see why Abe has been drawn to move back to this area. He said he has family members that are buried here on his land since the 1700’s. That’s pretty cool.
- Thanks to Short Sale for joining me.
- Until next time!
Aye,
CE Out
