Last week at Arrow SP asked me “What’s the route?” My response “How should I know, I’ve got the Q next week.” Well after Arrow last week we decided to do Hilloween for Arrow, what does that mean for YHC? It means that I forgot that I was on the Q this morning. The good thing is that it was a predetermined route and the WOD was also easy (more of that to come).
The Thang:
Cuz Eddie and I rolled up to Bargain Hunt at 5:05am and the only folks in the parking lot are SP and two guys trying to get what looked like a S-10 Pickup out of a ditch. They really wanted ole Cuz to pull them out with his big diesel but he was on a mission to get going before “the fastholes” got there. Off goes Cuz Eddie towards Eleanor and then SP says he needs to check out the back of Bargain Hunt for a min (wink wink) leaving me there with these two guys in the ditch sounding like they are trying to blow up the engine. Finally the rest of the crew comes rolling in. The conversation went something like this:
“How did they get that truck in that ditch?”, “5am is a weird time to be trying to get it out”, “I hate Eleanor, why are we doing this again”, “What are those guys doing that truck has been there for at least two days”
New PAXs roll in: “This is going to suck”, “What are those guys doing it is 5 am and that truck has been there at least 2 days”
OK we are repeating ourselves lets take off.
Herniator once again had done an awesome job lighting up the awful hill for us all to see. There was a red light at the top of Eleanor and another at the bottom to tell you to turn around and face the music. PAX did anywhere between 6-13 laps of the old gal. It was awful and amazing all at once. After grabbing the lights along the hill we started a slow mosey back to Bargain Hunt…. where our two friends were still trying to either blow up the truck or get it out of the ditch, not sure which.
We circle up and this is when Retread says “Who has the Q” and SP reminds me “Powder said he did from last week”. Oh crap…. well Retread grabbed his phone and we started to count off. There is a lot of mumble chatter going on at this point and Squints all of the sudden starts saying Happy Hilloween and has a bag of candy. Retread is trying to get control of the crowd and says he has a WOD but as he is starting we all decide to try and go push this truck out of the ditch. There was a lot of skepticism after the first attempt but after the car budged just a little the 2nd and 3rd attempt proved successful.
