QIC:  Inspector Gadget

YHC thought he would bring an Inauguration Trivia Pop Quiz to the PAX as an added bonus to the customary Down PAINment.  YHC had done a similar Electoral College theme workout at Dog Pound and Powder Keg in November, that seemed a crowd pleaser. Knowing that Main Thang has  more Smart Alecks per capita than those AOs, I had some trepidation, but I think it went over pretty well. I don’t think PAIN was sacrificed in order to fulfill the theme. Apparently not many PAX remember their 9th Grade Civics, but at least they got a refresher.

Look for this again in four years ; )

In addition to an FNG visiting the area from Hickory NC, we had Matlock from Lexington SC and Kapowski, also from Hickory.

Devotional: [Poodle, an F3 brother and Sheriff’s Deputy that lost his K9 partner, Hyco in the line of duty 15 months ago posted this to Facebook the day prior. A law is moving through the SC Legislature currently to make harming/killing a police dog a crime. It is named for Hyco ]

There has probably not been one single day that I haven’t thought about my partner, Hyco. He was always willing to go up against anything so that I could make it home. When this happened to me 15 months ago, it was and still is the most adversity that I have been up against. As I look back on that day, in my mind I had the best partner anyone could ever ask for. In reality God had so much more in store for me and my family. With what happenned with Hyco, I could either stay down on the ground or I could get up. I chose to get up and continue to praise God for all that I still have. While this was the worse day in my and my family’s life, I think about all of the other people in the world that have something way worse going on in their life. I have had the opportunity to meet some of the most awesome people that are up against more adversity than I could ever think of. Things come in our paths, and what we decide to do with them is ultimately up to us. If you are going through hard times I challenge you to seek God daily and pray without ceasing. I promise there are better days ahead for you. If you are on top of the mountains there is always someone in the valleys that could use your encouragement and prayers. It is not only how we praise God when we are on top of mountains, but how we praise Him in the valleys too. Remember that God is always with you no matter what.

James 1:2-4 NIV

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
