Not going to lie, it’s been a struggle for me to get to F3 here lately. Most of you know I am an assistant principal at an elementary school and when one of the bus drivers go out, I have to step in. Needless to say its been a few weeks. Ferdinand has been asking me for quite some time to do my first Q, so when we had a teacher workday on a Tuesday I jumped on it.
Warmup
Side Straddle hop
Hillbilly’s
Humpy’s
Workout
4 corners of….fun
Before the workout I gave everyone a piece of chalk and had them write their names under the sail. For every lap you complete, you put a tally mark under your name. Not going to lie, I forgot that Howitzer had changed to a boot camp, may have had a little too much running, and a few reminders during the workout that it is now a boot camp. We started under the sail’s and ran to each corner, 1st corner 4 merkins, 2nd corner 4 squats, 3rd corner 4 lunges each leg, and last corner 4 WW 2’s. After every lap you added 2 reps. A few people cut the corner behind the tap room. I will not mention any names.
After doing this for some time, we met back at the flag and ran down to the hill below the theater and partnered up. One partner did flutter kicks while the other ran up the hill and back pedaled back. We did this a few times and worked our way back to the flag and circled up. Not going to lie, this where I probably didn’t plan enough and went back to some of the main exercises we had already done, merkins, WW 2’s, and mix of other things. There were some mumblings and a mention of the Lexicon to look up other exercises.
Verse of the day: James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which has promised to those who love him. This is one of my favorite verses and it is one I look to when things are difficult.
Word of the day: commitment
Even in good times and bad you have to stay committed. What are your commitments, Jesus, wife, family, kids, church, work, exercise, etc…. Exercise has been a commitment issue of mine the last few years. I have joined and quit gyms, started routines only to quit for any excuse, and much more. This summer I was reading a book called Chasing a Lion on a Snowy Day. I highly recommend it. As I read a chapter I realized at that moment I needed to make some changes in my life and fitness/exercise was one of the things that stood out to me. So I reached out to a good friend who has been there for me. We have ran together, talked about life, and prayed together. This close friend of mine was Rai/Pumpernickel and I am not writing this BB without him sending a short text saying meet me at Corinth on Wednesday at 5:15. That was it, that was all it took. Needless to say I was excited to start running again. So I show up at 5:17 not knowing what I was walking into and see a group of cars. People start saying hey we start at 5:15, not 5:17 and I hear these strange names, and I’m a FNG. At this point in time, I’m asking myself what did I get myself into and what is a FNG? After a few workouts, I was hooked. Long story short, that was in July and I’m still here. I still love my time with F3! Even though my work hasn’t allowed me to be here as much as I would like, I am still committed to F3 and the men is in this group. That doesn’t happen without people reaching out. I have had quite a few to stay in contact with me even when I wasn’t there. Thank you to those guys for staying in touch and continuing to reach out to help me stay committed!
As I close, I hope you all continue to stay committed to Jesus, your wife, your kids, your family, your church, your job, exercise, and F3. Our mission is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.
