Roll up to the AO- The Jurisdiction- and YHC is feeling lonely. I begin to think the other PAX have pulled an April Fool’s one week late. Then, headlights. The Dude pulls in like a vandal and it’s go time. Full disclosure, YHC has been up since 2 or a little before thanks to that yellow parfum de springtime blowing in the breeze. YHC wanted to fart sack, bigly. More on that later.
Warm Up:
SSH x 10
ATT x 12
Mosey around the block and back to the courthouse.
Itsy Bitsy Spiders with a Merkin once both hands are back down x 15
Mosey to hill at the fire dept. Run 3/4 down, Bernie Sanders back up. It didn’t seem as long running downhill. The Bern was felt.
Mosey to parking deck and crawl bear up the ramp. Old Skool Suicides across the top of the parking deck, then to the lower level for some incline merkins, a wall walk, and a little bit of Mary.
Mosey back down the road and around the block to the flag.
WOD:
Last night as I was leading our men’s bible study before church, I had an opportunity to insert a shameless F3 plug. We were discussing how as men we struggle with the temptation of various sins and the effects they can have on our relationships. We talked about setting guidelines, making a plan on how we will respond before temptation comes, and how in addition to internal defenses, we need those outside of us who will take us to the mat and call us out on our BS. It’s a small Baptist church, so I didn’t say BS. That’s when I got to introduce them to the idea of the Shield Lock. I told them about how I’ve been going to F3 and how it has helped me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The Shield Lock is an infinitely valuable piece of the F3 puzzle. Within our respective AO’s we know each other well enough that we can tell when one of our brother’s start slacking. Their attitude is different, they start missing more workouts than normal. The mumblechatter turns from 8th grade humor and general hazing, to having a tone of serious anger and aggravation. And we call each other out on it. We push each other to do one more rep. We support each other during the loss of a loved one. We challenge each other to be HIM’s who lead their families well. We are a brotherhood, and we are daily fighting all the BS this world throws at us with shields locked and swords at the ready. That is why with a head full of snot, little sleep, and feeling like absolute garbage YHC kicked the fart sack in the teeth and posted this morning. It’s not just about making myself better. It’s about my brothers who count on me to push them too. I am daily reminded of what a blessing F3 is. Do we get some stares and strange looks doing LBC’s on the sidewalk at 0530? Sure. But those onlookers may be the next sad clowns to stop and have their life changed forever. Go, do the hard thing, fight whatever battle you face today, and do all for the glory of the Lord.
