QIC:  CrossStitch
PAX:  Retread, Herninator, Phlegmothy, HBC, Squints, Caboose, & Shortsale
  Date:  02/10/21
  AO:  Arrow

It all started with a little joke by Shortsale calling himself an FNG at the COT before the run. Oh how that came to bite him in the buttocks later…

Most of us normal folk showed up for a wonderful Arrow this morning. It was a very nice feeling not having to bounce around to stay warm. Due to the fact Retread told me I have the Q around midnight last night, I did not have the meaningful, mind blowing WOD as I normally do. But, I was able to wow the group by saying that I feel extremely fortunate to live the life that I live with a great wife and children and family along with a growing group of friends. I know for a fact not everyone can say the same thing in Hickory or the US and definitely not throughout the world. I find it very helpful to realize that my life is what the majority of the world would dream of having.

The route was quite circuitous and difficult to follow while I was explaining due to the fact I do not know street names; #bornandraisedinHKY. Leave the flag, cross 127, turn right behind Lowe’s, run to LR’s baseball field, turn left to run past Hampton Heights to Rooster Hill, come out at Homer’s, turn right at Bargain Hunt, left before Eleanor, right then left to run towards club tennis courts, right at 3-way stop at top of hill BEFORE tennis courts, left to run towards Lake Road, up Lake Road back to flag. That is just about word for word how the route was explained. I was thinking to myself, thankfully we have HBC/Squints who have run every road known to mailman in Hickory and won’t get lost. And of course the F3 realtor, Shortsale to help lead whomever else.

So, we take off with Phlegm bringing his phone just in case he has to save a child from a burning house being attacked by a bear, since he was on call. You know, doctors. He and I were running at a pretty good clip up until we got to Rooster Hill and then the real fastholes showed up. Herninator and Retread sauntered up, probably running backwards, and passed us like we were sitting still. As we made it closer to Eleanor, Retread picked up the pace knowing he was getting closer to his love affair. Yet, we had to turn off and leave him disappointed. After our juking and jiving of turns, I saw Caboose making his way up a hill and was THINKING about picking up the 6 yet I did not.  I am going to apologize to Caboose for everyone to see. Once we made it back to the flag, everyone had returned except Dora the Explorer (Shortsale) and Boots (Caboose). We waited for a good bit and then went off on a Search and Rescue. Herninator went down Lake Road, HBC towards the golf course, and yours truly drove around in circles. After circling back to the flag, I saw they returned. I called Shortsale and asked WTF happened. To use his words, they zigged instead of zagged and found a way to Eleanor’s ugly sisters. I believe they ended up in Billy Jean’s new neighborhood? Not sure where he lives. But, I do know there are AWFUL hills. His good excuse was he wanted to train for Mortimer.

Needless to say, we’ll need to make sure to bring along a Coldwell Banker realtor next time Shortsale runs. Since they know their market area better than he does…
