Task: ER – do it

Condition: Rainy – who cares

Standard: no whining, pick up the 6

I show up at 5:29, the guys are laughing because they think I forgot.  Nerp.  You can’t forget something that you never knew.  Actually, Phlegm saved my tail by sending me a reminder the night before, for that I am grateful.  I was spoiled by the weekly email, that’s a lot of work for coms though, I am grateful for mindful site Qs.

Per the ER standard, there was no warmup.  So we mosey to the bottom of the parking deck.  I’m still slightly apprehensive about sharing a stairwell with 15 unmasked nasty-ass dudes, myself included, during COVID season.  Also, out of respect to the hospital workers, I try to stay out.  Obviously during old ER workouts we can’t do that but, hey, Im trying.

We start at the bottom, we do a BLIMP, starting at 20 reps, go up a level, add 10 reps, to the top.  I had planned on a plethora of lunge walks at the top but I respect our Iron Pax contenders and I want F3 Foothills to dominate, so we alter the workout a little.  No big deal.  I think we did some pushups or something, whatever. I think we did it all in reverse again.  I really should have written this day of.

Next we yog to the bottom of oakwood hill.  we split into two even groups, the 1st group indian runs to the top stop light while the 2nd group does a workout at the bottom, I let a iron pax contender choose the workout at the bottom, 10 minutes of LBCs is too many LBCs.  I choose the next workout on the 2nd round, we do BLIMPS, 10 reps each exercise.  I’m a better chooser of exercises.

Time’s up. We done. Yog to the flag.

WOD:  I also called an audible on my WOD, it came to me in a sleep deprived haze somewhere around 3:30am the morning of.  We’re very keen as an organization and even as a male society to “keep grinding”  “grind the axe” “iron sharpens iron”… these things are important, however, as a novice woodworker and a bad mo’fo of a carpenter I fully understand the importance of a sharp axe, chisel, plane, etc.  A sharp tool is a safe and effective and rewarding tool to use.  And, yes, I am calling all of us tools.  The best thing you can do, is save up to get the absolute best steel you can afford, let’s call this our baseline.  Then, you sharpen the be-jesus out of that steel.  Now the trick is, quality steel, Us, the tools, hold a sharp edge.  When your built of quality material and you’ve sharpened yourself, unless you run across a nail, your edge stays sharp and you just need to refine the edge every once in a while.  If you’re relentlessly grinding away at your axe, yourself, you’ll wear out.  So, stay sharp, but remember to enjoy the fruits of your labor, don’t over do it, be made of solid material, hone the blade when it starts to dull.

Seriously, if you read Cuz’s last backblast, don’t watch 2 girls 1 cup.
