YHC thought the PAX might be nostalgic for some log dragging, so I went to Home Depot yesterday and bought a few tie-downs (hoping they’d work better than the rope from the old set), drilled holes into 11 Holly logs, set eye anchors in each, and hooked a generous loop of tie-down strap to each eye anchor. Finished by throwing (maybe a generous verb) them in the back of my truck for this morning’s workout.
Arrived a bit early at the Steeple, parked the logs at the bottom of the hill and moseyed to the portico for warm-up. 5 PAX ready at 6:30am, so we start with
- 15 Count Side Straddle Hops in cadence. (Oh, now 7 PAX.)
- 15 Count Humpies in cadence.
- 10 Little Arm Circles
- 10 Reverse Arm Circles
Then we mosey to today’s event. First station – 5 LBC’s, mosey, second station – 5 hand release merkins, mosey downhill, third station – 5 big boy sit ups, mosey, 5 wide arm merkins. We reach the parked truck and YHC gives the rest of the instructions: grab a log, drag it behind you following the path we just traversed, increase reps by 5 each time you return to a station. Cap at 40 reps and go down again. (Relatively sure Patti Mayo is the only HIM that needed that instruction… …at least YHC didn’t get to 40.)
We commence with a weighted walk uphill to the first station for 10 LBC’s. After about two laps, Swanson adds another log to his entourage. Because Swansons do that kind of thing.
Finally 6:15 arrives and everyone hates hand release merkins, so we stop, throw (there’s that generous verb again) the logs back on the truck, and head back to the portico.
Count-o-rama, name-o-rama:
YHC shares a short note on being careful and intentional in how we communicate, especially with the way certain conversations can be abrasive on social media and such when complex issues are reduced to memes and sound bites:
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Colossians 4:6
YHC prays us out and drives those logs home.
