QIC:  Biscuits

YHC arrived a few minutes early at the Tower to drop unlaminated papers around the parking lot, each with an exercise printed on it. (Printouts found wandering around my basement; probably from this earlier Mount workout).

12 PAX arrive, ready for the cold morning fun. First things first, warm-up!

  1. 20 side-straddle hops in cadence (although YHC led with offbeat, out-of-sync, arm/leg mismatch for the first 5 or so before correcting… 🙄)
  2. 10 humpies in cadence (got these right)
  3. 10 small arm circles in cadence
  4. 10 reverse arm circles in cadence

Then we mosey 20ft to the back of YHC’s truck where a pile of cards awaits. Each PAX receives 10 cards, and we mosey across the road to an open parking lot where YHC explains the Mike Tyson Squat Workout.

Mike Tyson Squat Workout

YHC found this gem on the Art of Manliness blog and felt it was a good fit for the Tower:

Tyson did this body squat routine while in prison; it doesn’t sound too hard but it’s a real killer:

  • Line up ten cards facedown in a straight line on the ground with 4″ between each card.
  • Begin by standing over the first card and squatting down to pick it up.
  • Holding the first card, take a step forward to the second card. Squat down and place the card you just picked up on top of the second card. At this point, you’ll have no cards in your hand, and 2 cards will be one on top of the other on the ground below you.
  • Squat once and pick up the first card.
  • Squat once and pick up the second card.
  • Take a step forward to the third card, squat down, and place one of the two cards in your hand on top of the card on the ground. Now squat down and place the other card on top of the cards on the ground.
  • Squat one time each to pick up the three cards one by one.
  • Take a step forward to the fourth card, and repeat this process until you’ve made it through all ten cards.

Also noteworthy:

Parking Lot Loop

Next up; the other nine exercises! We mosey back across the road to the Tower parking lot. For this routine, each PAX makes a loop around the parking lot and stops at each of 9 workout stations to perform reps of the before-mentioned printed exercises. With 10 cards in hand, each PAX gets to choose any of the 9 stations to add a card to as they make their loop, and the number of reps for each station is the number of cards that have been placed there times 5. The 9 stations are:

  • No Surrenders
  • Leg Raises
  • Diamond Merkins
  • Plank Jacks
  • Big Boy Sit-ups
  • Merkins
  • Lunges
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Wide-arm Merkins

PAX continue looping until 6:15.

COT / WOD

Count-o-rama, Name-o-rama:

YHC read Hebrews 11:1-2, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation.” Then YHC asked the PAX to consider two questions:

  1. Who has been a model of faith in in your life?
  2. How can you be a model of faith to people in your life?

YHC closed out in prayer.
