QIC:  Katniss

Pre-Run: 4 PAX met for some pre-workout fellowship. 3 were on time even though the one who lives closest to the AO manages to run late.

Greeting: Since we had no FNG the disclaimer was mumbled but YHC boldly proclaimed “Welcome to the Mount!” After looking at the confused faces and the mocking ensued I realized my mistake and quickly tried to save face. I guess you can take the boy outta the Mount but not the Mount outta the boy. I was all too happy to get this thing started. Being that YHC has to leave at 6 to fulfill other duties I did the WOD to start us off.

WOD: “Be it so!” Looking at the lifestyle of the early martyrs, a familiar and common saying was “Be it so!” Men and women who were unashamed of what they lived and believed in the face of torture, crucifixtion, lions, etc., would face their persecutors with the response of “Be it so!” YHC encouraged the PAX in a day when everyone is so offended by everything, to be bold in their convictions and unashamed for their beliefs, in spite of who it might offend.

Warmup: SSH, ATT, Windmills, Humpy’s. We next got to our six and completed what has started to become a bit of tradition, Asheville ABs -10 count. It was a little gift for the next day.

The Thing: We moseyed to the stairs in the side parking lot and completed 25 Bonnie Blairs. We next ran through the breezeway of the old school building, hurdling the sketchy 3 steps that are in the dark to the back parkinglot where we did 25 wide arm merkins. When then ran to the end of the parkinglot under the streetlight where we did 25 flutterkicks. We next moseyed to the front of the Gym and grabbed a coupon where we did 25 squat thrusters. We completed the tour back at the side parkinglot where we startes and dropped 5 reps at each corner for each round until we got down to 5 reps. We then repeated adding 5 reps at each round.

Patty closed it out for me and from what I understand, a good time was had by all.

Moleskin: I really enjoy the three mile “therapy sessions” before the workout each morning. I have gotten to know some really great men because of the quality conversations that have taken place while we suffer together.

As Yogi and I were waiting on Patty to show up (4:55, not 4:59 Patty), this other vehicle careens in on 2 wheels and lo and behold it’s Tattooed Swanson!(on time too Patty) The man is a beast! I found out later that it was his first pre-run and he did the whole 3 mile loop without giving up! Hat Tip to you Swanson!

We give Patty a lot of crap about his attentiveness to start times but I really appreciate him taking the gumption to start this AO location!

I also appreciate the men that are making the Tower legit – 8-12 men steadily posting since we started
