Anticipation
Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your heart on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father. Colossians 3: 1
I remember as a child going to see the Detroit Tigers play major league baseball. Back then there was only radio and as a teenager there was only a black and white television screen. Before I got to the game I only had the dream of being there, without realizing the fact that when I got there it would be in color, beautiful arrays of all kinds of color illuminated with the brightest lights I had ever seen and the smell of stadium food. All of this grandeur was topped with actually seeing, in person, the best players of baseball in the world perform. In hindsight, I don’t know if I enjoyed the actual experience or the several months and weeks of anticipation.
In our Christian life the anticipation of what we can’t even imagine we’re going to experience, not only in our senses but in our relationship with the creator of the universe and all of God’s perfected children we will be with when we get there, is exciting. We are actually going to such a place. We know this because we have a friend who has promised this for no other reason than He wants me to be with him in this place.
