After messing up the Master Q last week I told him I would take the Arrow Q this week. So the night before as I was scrolling through the tv and thinking about the route when I came across The Barkley Marathons. I have been meaning to watch this for over a year but always think that the wife would not be interested. Since there was nothing else on we decided to give it a try as soon as we started we were both very intrigued. If you have not watched the documentary you should definitely give it a try… it was AWESOME. More about that in the WOD
The Thang-
Take a L out of the Corinth parking lot and then L between the two churches. Take a Left at the 4 way stop to circle behind Corinth. When you get back to 16th take a right and head toward Hotton Estates. Go through Hutton then take a L back onto 6th St. Follow 6th then take a R onto 14th then an immediate R onto 6th St Cir. Go about half way around the circle then take a right then immediate L (don’t go all the way to Brad Davis’ house). Follow 16th Ave Lane back to 14th Ave then cross back over 6th. Continue on 14th Ave which then turns into 4th St NW then 13th Ave Place (which is all one road, man are Hickory Roads screwed up). Turn R on 4th Ave then L toward Chickfila then L 127 heading back to the flag.
WOD-
What is your Barkley Marathon??? This documentary was an amazing view into human perseverance but also goals and different views. I think the race director might be a little crazy but some of his quotes in the movie were spot on. Talking about how runners helping one another and caring about one another, how the race can relate to life itself, and how to view goals (ie getting one lap done/ fun run/ not dying/ finishing). I think we all should have our own Barkley Marathon in life and I am not talking about an actual race, although it could be that, but something that we are striving towards that is going to take all of our effort to be the best we can be.
