QIC:  Biscuits

A few weeks ago a huge tree fell in my front yard. YHC sawed it up for firewood, but noticed that the trunk slices were pretty hefty and thought the Mount PAX might enjoy dragging them around. I chose the 12 largest slices (because I’m generous), adorned each with an eye lag + rope, and loaded them into my Chevy.

This morning, YHC arrived early at the Mount, intending to set up the Thang next to the Walgreens dead end road. However, it was rainy and dark in the planned location, so YHC found a nearby parking that was rainy and dimly lit instead, shut off the truck and moseyed to the flag.

11 PAX show up (whew, only had 12 logs), commence warm-up:

  1. Humpies, 10 in cadence
  2. Arm circles, 10 in cadence
  3. Reverse arm circles, 10 in cadence
  4. Windmills, 10 in cadence
  5. Sad-strudel, err, side-straddle hops, 10 in cadence

Mosey to the Thang in dimly-lit parking lot. Each PAX chooses a log and lines up abreast. Now we did an assortment of log-dragging exercises, somewhat in order, kind of in cadence. (YHC lost count halfway through, got things out of order, and generally stumbled over himself trying to call cadence while dragging log.) THE PLAN was to do 10 each descending by 1 after each set, but the second half was mostly reps of 5 until the end.

  1. 2.0’s #1 and #2 trying out the backwards drag. Assessment: gloves recommended.

Face log, step back to pull rope tight with arms outstretched, pull arms in to drag log towards self. Repeat!

  2. Pull log behind self back to starting line-up.
  3. Stand with log on right side, rope in right hand, step sideways away from log to pull rope tight with right arm outstretched, pull right arm in to drag log towards self. Repeat!
  4. #3 but left this time!
  5. Stand with log on left side, rope in right hand (across front of chest), step sideways away from log to pull rope tight, pull right arm across chest to drag log towards self. Repeat!
  6. #5 but log on right, rope in left hand this time!
  7. 2.0’s #3 and #4 trying out the forwards drag. Assessment: works best in pairs.

Before restarting the circuit, we did a number of squats (or was it lunges?) or did a log-dragging lap around the parking lot.

  8. Back to #1

Finish up with one rope shredded completely (YHC thinks Patti Mayo was using his as a yoyo) and a few other ropes well on their way, we load up the truck and mosey back to the flag. Three minutes left, so we do:

  1. 20 (wet, cold) LBC’s OYO
  2. 20 RBC’s OYO
  3. 16 Storm Troopers in cadence

WOD: Philippians 2:1-4 – Look not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of others.
