QIC:  Bing

For the PAX that posted at ER on Monday (had to be there because there is no Backblast. Cuz?), YHC got stung by a bee (a hornet to be exact). After three days of leg swelling and receiving an untold amount of Voxxer *&#$#& talk, YHC had the Q at Expresso and was prepared for some pain for the PAX.

A recent Q at Howitzer was YHC’s inspiration for today’s pain. After short warm ups, SSH’s and little arm circles, YHC gave direction to get folks to pick a station to themselves, (here’s an evil eye towards Plegm who might be a good Dr., but sucks at listening to AND FOLLOWING directions). PAX were to pick an empty station, do 20 reps of the workout at that station then run to the bottom of Corinth hill and return. At the return move down to the next station and repeat until you hit each station. After the first lap, the distance was moved to the Corinth driveway (still a good run).

At alternating stations YHC had a few new coupons: a Sand filled tube and several pieces of stock steel (very heavy for their size), plus some of the tried and true; Bing’s Bricks and plain old dumbbells.

The Stations

  • Curls with the sand tube
  • Merkins
  • Bench Press with “large” piece of stock steel
  • LBC’s
  • Overhead Press with “medium” piece of stock steel
  • But Cutters
  • Skull Crushers with “small” piece of stock steel
  • Freddy Mercury’s
  • Squat Lifts with steel plate
  • Nolan Ryan’s
  • Fly with Bing’s Bricks
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Bent Over Row with 10lb dumbbells
  • Monkey Humpers
  • Air Ali’s with 5lb dumbbells
  • Lunges

Most PAX made is most of the way through in the time allotted, and ran ~3.5 miles.

What is your Brand?

YHC recently took a new job at Apple. New job = lots of new training and several of the trainings YHC has taken has been about the Apple brand. So much is done to preserve and protect that little Apple logo. We all see that little Apple and instantly recognize and know what it stands for. It has changed little over the years. The first logo, which lasted all of 1 year, was the only one completely unrecognizable from today’s logo in the 40+ years of apple.

That got me to thinking about brands on a more personal level. What is my brand? What is your brand? Are you instantly recognizable as someone/something? Is it your work? Is it F3? Or is it that you are a Christian? We are made in the image of God and are called to be examples of Him in all that we do. Because we are of the flesh, and are all sinful, we fail, and will continue to fail at this often. (Apple has produced some REALLY bad products in it’s life too: the ROKR and iPod Socks are just a couple. Cuz probably owns the full rainbow of the iPod Socks.)  But even when we fail, are we still a recognizable brand?

Do we fail with honesty, integrity, and humility that shows we are God’s brand?

In our times of success, are we showing God’s brand or our own?

What is your Brand?

Think about this and define yourself as God wants you to be defined. Establish it, protect it, and let it be known and recognizable.

Thanks as always for the opportunity to lead a great group of men!

P.S. – Register for the HCA 5k and let YHC know when you register. We have 4 Track Commanders and more coming in. YHC needs help from all for this event. Let’s show our brand, Men of God who give back through others with the blessing we have been given.
