QIC:  Cropduster

The Men of Stargate – Cropduster, Double Bogey, Friar, Old School (not pictured), Snips (not pictured), Audit (not pictured)

COT – at Stargate we begin with the COT.  Cropduster read from Mark 8 – a passage that’s been on his mind for awhile.  In this passage Jesus asked his disciples this question:  “Who do YOU say that I am?”.  Peter answered “The Messiah”.  My encouragement to the PAX would be to imagine Jesus asking you this question today.  How would you answer?  How would you choose to live your life today based on your answer.

There’s only ONE bad thing about Stargate.

  1.  YHC has to drive 40 minutes to get here.  It starts at 5:15.  I have to walk my dog.  So I rolled out of bed early, early, early so I could be on time for the Quantum Leap.  BAD
  2. It’s HILLY in downtown Lenoir.  H.I.L.L.Y.  We found them all – well no not really there are more but we found a few. BAD
  3. You park across the street from the Stargate structure and the ONLY way to get there is down a one way street – the wrong way!  I almost fell for it and there was a police officer behind me.  Almost!  BAD
  4. The PAX of Lenoir – studs all of them!  There’s Friar who is sure and steady and likes to talk alot.  I thought we weren’t going to get to run because he was rambling on and on about something – kinda like he does on Sunday morning.  There’s Double Bogey – aka #conehead  He’s tatted up, wearing a do rag and some sort of compression leggings and he looks all Bad Ass – and they he takes off like he was shot from a cannon.  Audit – I’m pretty sure Audit was holding back from his normal smoking pace to make sure us oldies were all OK.  The dude lives in Lenoir and drives to Hickory every day – I mean, who would do that!  Snips – he made dang sure that we got the name-o-rama correct – hospital name, age, F3 nickname.  And he was the social one on the run – ran ahead, then circled back to chat here and there.  And last but not least – Old School.  That man is working to get back to marathon shape and he’s not far away.  Steady runner who works for a place who makes “BreakingBad” chemicals.  The PAX – all BAD.
  5. It was foggy in Lenoir today – what the HECK!  I drove from NE Hickory, through Viewmont, Granite Falls, Sawmills, Hudson, Joyceton, Whitnel and then into Lenoir.  Not a bit of fog in sight until I hit Lenoir.  BAD
  6. OK, I said there was only ONE bad thing about Stargate – I lied!

Today we had an absolute BLAST running the hills and streets and sidewalks of downtown Lenoir.  I am pretty sure we ran past EVERY church in the downtown area.  We ran through the hospice parking lot.  We ran by the courthouse, by SONIC, by the hospital, by Davenport School, by Fairfield Chair and up and down some crazy hills.  And along the way we chatted, we breathed hard, esp Friar, we bonded a bit because we tackled this city together….and we got better!

It was an HONOR to run alongside the FINE men of Stargate this morning.  I look forward to Q’ing here in the months ahead.

Cropduster out.
