QIC:  Peaches

It’s been a while since YHC has had a Q, so naturally I was excited to see my name back in the saddle to lead the PAX of Hickory, NC in a early morning beatdown.

Before we get into today’s workout, however, I feel it’s necessary to give an overview of recent events that led to today’s workout.

Last Wednesday, Cousin Eddie Q’d the first ever OG at Jaycee Park. It was a beatdown that only a certain few of us experienced. For this workout, CE decided it would be a good idea to beat us down with the bricks and blocks that typically reside across the street from First Baptist. So, acting on this idea, CE “borrowed” these coupons. Fast forward to last Friday, which was Powder’s 3rd Q of the week at RAM. Constantly being poked by certain PAX that his workouts tend to be “Candyland”, Powder decided to prove them wrong. While he did, he forgot to check on one thing… the bricks and blocks. As Powder and the rest of us came to find out, said coupons were MIA in CE’s whip. Unfortunately for Powder, he could not escape the amount of crap he would receive from other PAX.

Knowing that CE still had the coupons, YHC felt it would be in the spirit of F3 to help a brother(s) out. I figured it would be nice of the PAX at Howitzer to help CE put up his toys and to help Powder out in the event that he Qs again and needs those blocks/bricks.

Of course, putting these coupons away wouldn’t be as fun with a little adventure, so here’s how it all went down:

Warm-Up

  • SSH x 15 IC
  • ATT x 15 IC
  • Windmills x 12 IC
  • Humpies x 12 IC

The Main Event

Start with a brief mosey to CE’s ride. Pair up with a partner. Partner 1 (P1) grab a block, Partner 2 (P2) grab two bricks.

Mosey back to the sails.

P1: Goblet squats with blocks – AMRAP

P2: With the bricks run around the square.

  • 1st stop: The Taproom
    • 30 Curls for the Girls
  • 2nd stop: Larry’s Music
    • 30 Overhead Press
  • 3rd stop: Back at the sails
    • 30 Lat Raises

**Flip Flop**

Then Mosey over to Lowe’s Food Playground with the same coupons.

P1: On the blocks, each PAX did 30 Right Arm Merkins, 30 Left Arm Merkins, and 30 Incline Merkins.

P2: With the bricks:

  • Run to the corner by whatever bank that is (Capital Bank maybe?) – 30 Brickbell Swings
  • Run to the corner by Griffiths Security – 30 Hallelujah Squats
  • Run the block back to the park – 30 Overhead Sumo Squats (which some PAX pointed out were no different than the Hallelujah Squats. I beg to differ. You just didn’t do them right!)

Next stop on the adventure was after a short mosey to the parking lot behind/beside FBC.

All PAXs ditched the coupons for some Mary.

  • American Hammers IC x 15 (I think)
  • WWII Situps IC x 12 (I suck at keeping these in cadence)
  • Box Cutters IC x 12

Then pick up the coupons and mosey to their final resting spot across from FBC.

When we got to the location, some PAX thought we were finished but I had to remind them that was simply not the case.

P1: Bench press with the block – AMRAP

P2: Brickee 4 Corners x 10 at each corner. Contrary to Retread’s belief, no bricks were harmed in the process of this exercise.

After all the PAX had enough we had time for one last painful objective…

Indian Run back to the AO

** I’ll have to admit… An Indian run at the end may not have been the best idea because quite frankly it turned into a cluster of sorts. Some sprinted, some didn’t, and we probably made some cars quite confused. Nonetheless, we tried.

Back at the AO, we had 1 minute left for some 6, 0, 12, 1, inch(es).

WOD

I shared some from my 21 Day Leadership devotional that I’m working through, but I think what really matters is God’s word from Lamentation 3. Hold on to the hope that is given to us through Jesus Christ. Life is tough, life sucks sometimes, but have a God that reminds us that “the ‘worst’ is never the worst.” Hope comes in the morning each and every day.

I’ll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness,
the taste of ashes, the poison I’ve swallowed.
I remember it all—oh, how well I remember—
the feeling of hitting the bottom.
But there’s one other thing I remember,
and remembering, I keep a grip on hope:

22-24 God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
    How great your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
    He’s all I’ve got left.

25-27 God proves to be good to the man who passionately waits,
to the woman who diligently seeks.
It’s a good thing to quietly hope,
quietly hope for help from God.
It’s a good thing when you’re young
to stick it out through the hard times.

28-30 When life is heavy and hard to take,
go off by yourself. Enter the silence.
Bow in prayer. Don’t ask questions:
    Wait for hope to appear.
Don’t run from trouble. Take it full-face.
The “worst” is never the worst.

31-33 Why? Because the Master won’t ever
walk out and fail to return.
If he works severely, he also works tenderly.
His stockpiles of loyal love are immense.
He takes no pleasure in making life hard,
in throwing roadblocks in the way:

Moleskin:
If you’ve made it this far, I apologize. I like to talk. Consequently… I like to write. I’m grateful for the brotherhood that we have. One thing I took away from today’s Q is that I’ve never Q’d with an FNG before. I kinda threw poor Ditch Chicken under the bus during Name-o-Rama, but hey, you live and your learn.
As always… I am less without you.
