Summer is here, & YHC has a case of Burpee Fever! Symptoms below:

THE WARMUP:
20 – SSH – IC
10 – Humpies – IC
20 – High Knees – IC
50 – Burpee’s – OYO

I’d say that we were warmed up after that! In fact, from the stares that I was receiving, I’d say a few were already rather heated! Next, we moseyed to YHC’s car to grab 2 bricks each (thanks Howitzer) for a long ‘LUNGE/KICKBACK/CURL/PRESS’ walk with the bricks.

We ditched the bricks for a moment, long enough for us to plank walk forward & backward from one curb to the next. At this point, mumble chatter was just audible enough to sound like ‘threats’ or ‘plots’ against YHC. Is it bad if YHC finds joy in moments like those? Anywho, from there, we wrapped up our plank walk with a 15 LBC’s which YHC found rather difficult after the plank walks.

Next up, we reunited with our bricks & moseyed to wall were we each found a spot to squat for a round each of 20 Overhead Presses, 20 Muhammed Ali’s, 20 Curls. That’s all she wrote with the bricks! Now, on to sprints!

From point A to B, sprint as hard as you could & wait for the 6. Next, return to the point A by Lunge Walks. Sprint again & return by virtue of the Bear Crawl. Sprint one last time & waddle your way back by doing the Duck Walk. Enough sprints! On to the blocks!

After moseying to the blocks, we partnered up for a little AMRAP. Partner 1 would sprint across the parking lot & do 10 Burpees before returning to relieve partner 2 & the switch. The exercises were as follows: (with blocks)

Overhead Press
American Hammers
Curls

Time to head back to the flag…for more burpees! That’s right, since we still had 3 minutes left, & seeing as how we had each done 80 burpees, YHC thought that it would be fun to pump out 20 more burpees for a nice even 3 digit number.

WOD/COT
Deuteronomy 11:18-21

18 “So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 19 Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 so that as long as the sky remains above the earth, you and your children may flourish in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors.”

So, to be completely honest, YHC shared this word at Whipping Stick the Saturday before Father’s Day. But, seeing as there were only 2 other in attendance that day, I felt that it was worth sharing to a few others.

These verses speak for themselves. My challenge to you is to take the time to actually do it! Look for those little opportunities to teach your kids about the Love of God. Whether it be starting with something as small as praying for an ambulance as it goes by, the point is to do it!

Closing Thoughts:
I was actually surprised but the turnout as I had ran with the guys the day before & was specifically asked “Jordache, are you going to make us do 50 burpees as warm-up?” In which I honestly replied “Yup!” That being said, I was also somewhat expecting 1 or 2 to pull a “Flaming Cropduster” but I guess that it takes a special kind of person to actually pull one of those…that’s what she said…
