So earlier this week I’m lying in bed (with my wife)…yes Hickory pax I am married to a woman and she’s very beautiful…thinking about how to incorporate some running into the Hurler workout (I’m training for the P200). So I automatically think “Tater Hole”! So I get to the Hurler AO a little early and I drive to the bottom of the Tater Hole to see how far it is from the center of town (for those that haven’t been to Granite, it’s a really long hill, steep in spots, that runs all the way down to the lake)..1.2 miles one way…perfect. So I drove back to town picked up a bunch of blocks threw them in my truck and unloaded them back down at the bottom of the Tater Hole.
So we are getting ready to start the workout and Twig says…you remember where the blocks are, right Flamer? And YHC says oh yeah they’re at the bottom of the Tater Hole. They all laughed and said yeah right. I said NO REALLY THEY ARE at the bottom of the Tater Hole. The look on their faces was worth the price of admission…shock and awe! So here’s how it went:
No warm up…5:30 let’s go, run 1.2 miles down to the bottom of Tater Hole. Now that we are warm my legs are a little tight so I call a few warm up exercises.
SSH x 15, Humpy’s x10, Alt Toe Touches, x 10
Partner up one with block for Tater Hole Block Fest. One partner does block exercise why other partner runs to No Swimming sign and does 5 squats and back. 200 Curls for girls, 300 Bench Press, 150 Bent over Rows.
We have a birthday boy turning 50 today, Udder Butter, so we had to drop and do 50 merkins…man that’s a lot of merkins….(in fairness Udder called to do 25 at the bottom of Tater and 25 at the top but still a lot after all that block work).
Mosey all the way back up Tater hole, 1.2 miles, and that’s all the time we had. I had planned on some ab work but ran out of time due to the size of that hill. Good work men of Granite! I’m 100% certain your workout today was much harder than the curves workout while listening to banjo music that Cousin Eddie led back at the Howitzer…..or was it?
Until next time Flamer out.
