I knew I had a Q coming up and I was trying to think up something better than, “Do a 1000 Side Straddle Hops” (looking at you Swinger). So, I checked the old Google and was trying to figure out what was special about June 6th. Then I found out that every day of the year has about 5 or so National Day for something. SO….we’ve now got our theme for the workout. National Day Beatdown. Here’s the thang:

Warmup – SSHs(only 25), Imperial Stormtroopers, Abe Vigodas, Humpies, Arm Circles

Start out with 10 Merkins IC. Nice and slow. Then a mosey.

Stop at the medical building for our first day – Nation Gardening Day. To honor this day, you are suppose to get out and tend to your plants and, “Get in your steps and squats in the garden”. All I read was Steps and Squats. The PAX completed 20 Sumo Squats and then ran 1 flight of stairs. Then 15 Sumo Squats and 2 flights. 10 Sumos and 3 flights. And finally 5 and 4.

Mosey up the hill to the base Davenport school for our next day – National Higher Education Day. This is to advocate the goal of higher education for all students regardless of financial or social class. Davenport sits on a high hill. “Higher” education. Get it? Bernie Sanders up the back road twice and then mosey around to the front and run up to the main parking lot.

10 Merkins IC

Next up is National Yo-yo Day. That’s it. Play with a Yo-yo today I guess? So, YHC could only think of one exercise like a Yo-yo….Indian Run! Nice tempo all the way back to the AO.

10 Merkins IC

Last day was National Applesauce Cake Day. An applesauce cake is any type of cake where you substitute applesauce for the fat content(butter, oil, etc.). This lowers the calorie count of the dessert to make it healthier. The PAX were out this morning to burn the calories! Time with Mary: No-Arm Weezie Jeffersons(x25, IC), Slow LBCs (x20, IC), and finish with 100s.

Now, as you probably know, June 6th is known for a much more important day than Yo-yos and applesauce cake. Today is D-Day. June 6, 1944 the allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy France to begin the liberation of German-occupied France and by extension, Western Europe. The casualties for the allies were estimated at close to 10,000 and for German forces it was near 5,000. The sacrifice these men gave to ensure worldwide freedom is immeasurable. Today, we enjoy so many amazing freedoms because of men like those brave soldiers who battled for us on that beach. Try to remember and be thankful of all that we are able to do each day in this country. #AMERICAISTHEGREATEST
