QIC:  Beaker

YHC had the task of leading a bunch of crazies on a Thanksgiving Day workout.  What a time we had.  It was chilly, hovering right around freezing.  We had a nice group from Hickory, Taylorsville and The Mount.  Bunch of good looking flags flapping the slight breeze.  T-Claps again to The Mount crew that have posted every day in Hickory, they more than deserve the Ghost Flag!  Here’s a little recap on our 60 minutes of pre-turkey fun:

Started down at mid-field where QIC had the pax circle up.  Started by counting off 1’s & 2’s.  Formed a nice 11 on 11 group which would be the basis for a number of competitions throughout.  Next YHC gave the men a heads up…COT would be a little different because each pax was going to say something they were thankful for.  I.E. you’ve got an hour to come up with something (we had some awesome comments but more on that later).

The usual warmups were performed but with a little twist…we did some SSH’s IC in the circle then The Beak had us run to all four corners of the field for the other warmups…all IC – Humpys, ATT’s, IST’s & then a celebrity guest Q led us on the PROPER way to do squats, my man T-Bone!  We ended in the corner nearest the stairs for our first comp…

Formed lines at the bottom of the stairs where the asphalt and concrete meet.  First man up sprinted across the sidewalk and up the stairs.  Once at the top he did 2 burpees and then sprinted back down.  When he gave way to the next man in line.  Was a very close race but YHC pulled it out against Kapowski to get the W.  Now he may have sprinted down the grass instead of the stairs on the way down but that’s what elite athletes will do for the win!  Good job Kap you had me!

Mosied up the stairs to the parking lot for the next event.  Bunny Hop Relay to the end of the parking lot where the white book deposit booth sits.  All pax get in low plank position spaced out by 2-3 feet.  Last pax starts bunny hopping over the pax on the ground.  Once he’s about at the end the last man down stands up and starts to hop.  YHC’s Team 1 was doing things honestly but noticed that Team 2 was putting giant gaps in between low-planking pax so that they were closer to the end.  Then the ultimate is cheating happened, Gasser, after hopping the pax decided to sprint to the end of the lot so the man behind him would be done after hopping Gasser.  The rest of his cheating team followed his lead and were about to win when YHC quietly told his Team 1 that we were going for a Prison Break.  We all were up and sprinting before The Cheaters knew what hit them.  Victory for Team 1!

After a brief fist fight (JK) we ran down to the largest in-anchored brick wall (and pointless) for some wall sits.  Mixed in our favorite over head presses and Muhammed Ali’s.  The second round was a little tougher – 50 Over-head Presses OYO.  Recovered then…

Started a mosy down the street and stopped in the dentists office parking lot for some abs.  Introduced the pax to The O Face.  20 circles OYO both clock-wise and counter clock-wise (assume the 6 inches position, with feet together you form a circle or “O”).  We had a lot of pre-mature finishers for this one but Pati was the clear winner.  He lasted far longer than most!  He had the honor of leading us in those damn Asheville Abs – 10 count instead of 5 and our mid sections were shreaded and trim, ready for the afternoon feast.

Continued the mosy down to New Hope pull up bars.  Time for more competition.  The challenge was (as a team so cumulative) to complete 150 Pull-ups & 150 Burpees then run all the way back to the middle of the field and plank.  Once all team members were there and in plank position you were done.  YHC gave each team a minute to strategy plan.  Team 1 had a dedicated group for burpees and a dedicated group for pull-ups.  Team 2 just got after it and were clearly quicker.  Team 1 still got the W since we all made it to the circle at mid-field.  Team 2 decided to plank near the sidelines, once again ignoring instructions!

Final exercise was the dreaded Bear Crawl Indian Run.  Say no more…YHC will never bring this one up again.  Just a bad idea, right T-Bone?

Circled-up for our Name-O-Rama and WOD.  22 men showed up on their day off.  YHC was very appreciative!

There is no doubt we all have been incredibly blessed by our amazing Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  So, so, so much to be thankful for!  Each pax put a little bit of his heart on the line and shared a sweet bit for us all to hear.  Made this guy’s year.  Our Great God was mentioned, His grace, our wives, our children, health, F3, friends, relationships, this community, F3 brothers and the best for last came from BJ – The Cross.  Say no more!  BJ closed out our time with an amazing shout to Jesus.  Seriously fellas, you all are such a blessing.  I’ll wake up at 4:45am for you any day!
