As others have been noting in recent back blasts, its been getting a little chilly in the gloom here lately, but it didn’t scare 14 PAX for a little tour of Hickory. Even Powder braved the elements albeit with a long sleeve shirt. YHC thought about grabbing some sleeves on the way out the door but all the warm clothes were in the basement and I wasn’t risking waking the 2.0’s walking back through the house. Now to the thang:
Started out with the usual, SSH, Humpys, ISS, and we were off.
YHC still isn’t terribly familiar with the streets around Hky, especially when the most I’m down there is in the gloom and as we all know…..its dark. The Pre-Run route is familiar though so YHC figured that running the route in reverse would be fairly familiar and a bit of a change for the frequent pre-runners. ANYWAYS, we started out and stopped shortly at the benches in front of the gym for a little work….tricep dips, incline merkins, decline merkins, all IC. For the record, YHC knows how to count in cadence and know how to use inflection to signal the end….but the big friggin street sweeper truck that decided our little strip of road must have been the dirtiest strip in Hky b/c he camped out there forever, and then turned around to come back. YHC had to shout most of the cadences and it was not awesome.
After leaving there, we headed on the reverse pr route and veered off course a bit to head up the parking deck at ER. Once we made it to the top, we did a set of Asheville Abs up to 5. If you don’t know what that is, ask around…..they suck. After that we did 15 merkins and continued our mosey. We got back on course and doubled up on Cemetery hill. The next stop wasn’t until we hit the square near howitzer. Murpees (moving burpees) LEXICON!! Followed by another round of Asheville Abs. That would do it for exercises as we then finished up with a long Mosey back to the flag. All in all, I think we were pushing close to 4 miles total on the run.
COT, we talked about seasons of life and how God will never give us more than we can handle, even if it seems overwhelming at the time.
It was brought to YHC’s attention that apparently Beaker plowed into a sign and took a pretty early fall going through the construction area by the square. It would seem as though Cuz was the only one who actually had eyes on the situation, and I’m sure there was more giggling than assistance giving when it happened. Sorry Beaker, hope you’re ok!
On a closing note, YHC needs to clear the air on a seemingly controversial topic……Its a compression….racing…..jersey…..ITS SUPPOSED TO BE TIGHT!!!!!!
