As seems to be a theme in Lenoir, we had another leader-less workout.
Scratch that, we had a leader-full workout.
We still had some tired arms from yesterday’s “capoot” Ironpax workout, so we decided early that we’d need to avoid merkins, or really any arm or chest exercises. I asked for no exercise at all, but was overruled
First exercise, from hanger: “just, like, stretch on your own for a minute okay? and be quiet about it.”
Bismarck took the lead
- Run up Powell to the Aquatic Center entrance.
- Windmills x 10 IC–it was here that YHC realized that it wasn’t just arms, but, like, the rest of my body that was really sore
- Humpees x 10 IC
- Run up around the apartment complex, back to the greenway entrance and towards the soccer fields. Stop at the drinking fountain for word#1
- Hanger takes over–Squats x 10 IC
- Run up to Zacks Fork parking lot
- LBCs x 21 IC
- Run down Zacks fork back to greenway entrance
- Flutter kicks x 25 IC
- Run Back along Powell to AO, run around in circles until you’ve met some arbitrary goal, like 6am or 4 miles or whatever.
Word #1 from Bismarck:
Pointing out the water fountain dedicated to a cancer victim: we should all make an effort to not just be a “hello” person, but be a “how is your life” person.
Word of the day #2 from RX
“In the time of your life, live—so that in that good time there shall be no ugliness or death for yourself or for any life your life touches. Seek goodness everywhere, and when it is found, bring it out of its hiding place and let it be free and unashamed.
Place in matter and in flesh the least of the values, for these are the things that hold death and must pass away. Discover in all things that which shines and is beyond corruption. Encourage virtue in whatever heart it may have been driven into secrecy and sorrow by the shame and terror of the world. Ignore the obvious, for it is unworthy of the clear eye and the kindly heart.
Be the inferior of no man, or of any men be superior. Remember that every man is a variation of yourself. No man’s guilt is not yours, nor is any man’s innocence a thing apart. Despise evil and ungodliness, but not men of ungodliness or evil. These, understand. Have no shame in being kindly and gentle but if the time comes in the time of your life to kill, kill and have no regret.
In the time of your life, live—so that in that wondrous time you shall not add to the misery and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite delight and mystery of it.”
― William Saroyan, The Time Of Your Life
Friar led us in Prayer, and everybody ran home.
Moleskin:
- F cancer
- YHC was in some trouble this morning for stealing keys from my wife…oops
- Kids will think they’ve invented some new way of getting themselves into trouble, but their parents did it all before. And grandparents before that.
- No smoking rules are useless
- I was the only one not pre-running. I should up my game…nah
- Do your part: vaccinate, wear your mask, social distance.
