YHC has an 8.5×11 paper collection. This is no ordinary paper collection. This paper collection only includes papers with terrible things printed on them, like “Hand Release Burpees” and “No Surrenders”. This paper collection started innocently enough with about 10 sheets of nicer things like “LBC’s” and “Side-Straddle Hops” after one Q, but has continued to grow and get more terrible as YHC has Q’d more workouts and needed more papers. The collection has grown to about 50 sheets and travels by truck to various AO’s to go on display.
This morning, YHC showed off a curated selection of 30 of these beauties, giving each its own parking spot at the Mount’s most recent block-stash lot. Then back to the flag to welcome the PAX. Once 9 arrived, YHC began the introduction, accidently introducing himself as “Derek”… …who is that anyway, scratch/restart, “Biscuits”, gave a disclaimer, claimed no one was a professional, but then Patti Mayo, our resident professional, showed up, bringing the total number of PAX to 10. On to the Warm Up:
- 20 Side-Straddle Hops
- 10 Humpies
- 10 LAC’s
- 10 RAC’s
- 10 Overhead Claps
- 10 Storm Troopers
Then, short mosey off to the Parking Lot Math-athon. Everyone grabs a block that will remain with them for the rest of the workout. Exercise-emblazoned paper sheets adorning parking spots formed a circuit that PAX followed with the following set-up: First loop, PAX skip to the second space and do 2*2 of whatever exercise is listed there (Hand Release Burpees BTW), skip to the 4th and do the same, to the 6th, counting by twos, etc, etc, until they reach the end of the loop. PAX then turn around and cycle the other direction counting spaces by threes (hitting every third parking space) and doing 2*3 reps of the listed exercise. On reaching the end of the loop again, PAX turn around, count spaces by 4’s, doing 2*4 reps, and so on. Exercises include (alphabetical here, no particular order IRL):
- American Hammers
- Bench Presses
- Bent-over Rows
- Big Boy Sit-ups
- Burpees
- Curls
- Diamond Merkins
- Elf on the Shelves
- Froggers
- Gas Pumps
- Hand Release Burpees
- Hand Release Merkins
- Jump Squats
- LBC’s
- Lunges
- Merkins
- Mountain Climbers
- Nolan Ryans
- No Surrenders
- Overhead Press
- Peter Parkers
- Plank Jacks
- RBC’s
- Side-straddle Hops
- Star Jumps
- Squats
- Thrusters
- Upright Rows (this appeared on 2 sheets… …whoops)
- Wide Arm Merkins
We made it up to 12 and 24 reps, but prime numbers helped us conveniently avoid certain exercises (YHC doesn’t remember a single Elf on the Shelf). 6:15, so we put up the blocks, pick up the exercise-emblazoned paper sheets, and head back to the flag.
Count-o-rama, name-o-rama, and YHC shares article about avoiding the Slipstream of Comfort, before praying us out.
