YHC had a old Philly baseball shirt on and got some rumblings of the Philly Special as I walked up to the group, so that’s what we named this workout.
Warmups: SSH, Hillbillies, Humpties, LBAC, etc.
Mosey to the Quad for some 5×5.
5 workouts, 5 rounds, 5-25 reps increasing with each workout
5 Pullups, 10 WWII, 15 Step-ups, 20 Merkins, 25 Squats
Mosey to the bottom of the hill behind Corinth for a HBC relay. Teams of 3. 1 man stays at the bottom and does merkins, 1 man at the top for LBCs, final man running in between. 30 “laps” and this sucked real nice. This hill is longer than HBC’s normal spot.
Finished with some Tunnel o’ Love wall sits and boxing moves from Tooth Fairy.
Announcements: Convergence 7/4, Christmas Party TBD
Prayer Request: Cross Stitch has a friend that just had a baby early. Prayers for the family and the baby as they go through this time. Prayers for our country and brothers and sisters around the world. Times are tough, but we can continue to be HIM and help others when we can.
WOD: As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.
He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”
The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.
Don’t let failing at something or your mind keep you from achieving your goals in life.
Sheamus out.
