There are a few exercises YHC doesn’t really like, so naturally YHC queued them up for today’s beatdown. First, a quick warm-up in cadence with
- 10 side-straddle hops
- 12 humpies
- 10 small arm circles
- 10 reverse arm circles
- 20 butt kickers
- 20 high knees
Then a mosey to the Clock, for one of my least favorite exercises, the burpee. We started at the top with 12, and descending by one rep as we make our way around Trinity Ridge for a total of 78 burpees.
Then a short mosey to the Mount’s premier paved incline for another of my least favorite exercises first introduced to me by Cousin Eddie: uphill crawl bears. Totally terrible. Up the hill to Walgreen for our next set.
There are three wall exercises I wouldn’t miss if I never did them again, but here we are:
- Balls-to-the-wall with 10 handstand merkins: my first introduction to these was by Doc McStuffins last year. Thanks Doc.
- 10 Mike Tysons: Sink Hole first brought these to the Mount. Wish he hadn’t.
- 20 London Bridges: experienced these at Star and thought they’d round out my list of least favorite wall exercises well.
Then a long mosey back to my truck for the final round. Reading Rainbow requested logs on Tuesday, and YHC didn’t want to disappoint, so we pulled them out. YHC doesn’t find the logs particularly awful, so we started with crawl-bears-while-pulling-log to make it so. Halfway across the parking lot, YHC decided it was too awful, so we stopped and began the Log Loop: two stations with 10 reps of two exercises descending by 2, pulling log between:
- Big boy sit-ups and hand-release merkins
- Diamond merkins and jump squats
YHC didn’t make it to through the entire descent before time ran out. Oh well. Logs back and short mosey to flag for COT and WOD.
Read a short devotion from Solid Joys: “What We Were Made For” and prayed us out!
