The Thang:
6 Pax showed up to get better together @ SoCal tonight
Warm-ups – x10 reps
- Little arm circles
- Abe Vigodas
- Humpies
- Side straddle hops
Moseyed to field behind the Post Office – YHC was busy before the 8:00 pm starting time setting up the field with cones & a table with a Deck of Cards. Just a side note, this is a “killer” hill.
BLACKJACK
- Started @ table at the bottom of the hill & performed 1 Merkin
- Ran to 1st set of cones (~30 yards) & performed 1 LBC
- Ran to 2nd set of cones @ top of hill (~30 yards) & performed 20 squats
- Ran back to 1st set of cones & performed 20 RBC’s
- Ran back to table
1 Merkin, 20 squats = 21; 1 LBC & 20 RBC’s = 21 – get the picture
- Round 2: 2 Merkins, 2 LBC’s, 19 squats, 19 RBC’s
- Round 3: 3 Merkins, 3 LBC’s, 18 squats, 18 RBC’s
- Round 4: 4 Merkins, 4 LBC’s, 17 squats, 17 RBC’s
At the end of round 4, plank position until everyone was finished. Time to deal the cards with Banjo stepping up to take on the dealer. If dealer wins – everyone performs 5 burpees. Luckily, Banjo won & we began rounds 5-8.
At the end of round 8 which consisted of 8 Merkins, 8 LBC’s, 13 squats, 13 RBC’s we played another hand – Castaway stepped up to play the dealer & busted – everyone performed 5 burpees. Began rounds 9-12.
At the end of round 12 which consisted of 12 Merkins, 12 LBC’s, 9 squats, 9 RBC’s, it was Cropduster’s time to take on the dealer – Sorry, dealer got 21 – 5 burpees. Began rounds 13-16.
At the end of round 16 which consisted of 16 Merkins, 16 LBC’s, 5 squats, 5 RBC’s it was Udder Butter’s time to take on the dealer. To everyone’s delight, Udder drew a 21 & we were burpee free.
With time running out, we were not able to finish rounds 17-20 (Banjo suggested this would be a great routine to take to 300 when we have a full hour) YHC agreed so be on the lookout for this in December. The Pax helped YHC gather up his goodies around the field & we moseyed back to the flag. Thanks Udder for carrying the 25 lb. weight.
Count off & name-o-rama.

Matthew 7:7 – “Ask” and it will be given to you ; “seek” and you will find; “knock” and the door will be opened to you. YHC then read the following poem and asked the Pax if this reminds them of anyone they know.
I woke up one morning and rushed into the day. So much to accomplish! No time to pray!
Problems tumbled in; heavier came each task. Why doesn’t God help me? He answered, “You didn’t ask.”
I wanted joy and beauty, but all was gray and bleak. Why doesn’t god cheer me? He answered, “You didn’t seek.”
So I approached his door, trying all my keys in the lock. And God lovingly chided me: “My child, You didn’t knock.”
I woke up this morning, and thought about the day. So much to accomplish! So I took time to pray.
I think we are all guilty of the above as we go through life – juggling work, family, Church, leisure (what’s leisure?). I raised my hand as I am just as guilty as the next one. Just a reminder, that we need to daily take time out of our busy lives to talk to God to seek his will for us.
Lifted up prayer concerns – Houston, TX, Castaways daughter, Tyler Sims Endure Challenge
Moleskin
YHC’s knee is still doing well and getting through the workouts without pain (thank you Jesus). Castaway missed the warm-up, but made it in time for the explanation on the game of Blackjack. He literally drove his truck around until he found us (now that’s dedication). It seems that 2 Stroke sent YHC a text message @ 7:55 pm wanting to know where we would be. Sorry 2 Stroke, left my phone in the car. Of course you could have been as dedicated as Castaway and found us, but did you “REALLY” want to feel the pain – just sayin’. Thank you men of Granite for putting up with my workout – I did hear a few rumbles during with some asking, “who the heck came up with this”. YHC kept blaming it on other Pax that were present. It is always a pleasure and honor to lead these men.
Also discussed the Fall festival coming up on September 16 in Granite Falls & setting up a tent for F3. Flyers will be made to hand out as well as water, etc. Twig will be looking for volunteers to man the table throughout the day.
2 Ply out!
