Am I holy? Are you holy?
Is this an uncomfortable topic to talk about?
Should it not be a topic that one be passionate about?
We often think that being a skilful athlete is most desirable by the majority and it might work with man but with God, a holy athlete is what matters.
During a recent worship retreat which I attended, I was reminded about a fundamental truth as a worshipper.
All of us desire to see God and we want to encounter His face and experience His touch, but what is the condition or pre-requisite?
The Psalmist says that ‘he who has clean hands and a pure heart’ will ascend onto the mountain of the Lord, His Holy place. In fact, without holiness, no one will see the Lord (Her 12:14).
Holiness is about setting ourselves apart for God, to be pure in all areas of our lives, including our thoughts and unseen motives of our hearts that only God knows.
It is about obedience to God’s words and taking no chances in allowing oneself to have the proximity of temptation to sin or indulge in activities that is displeasing to the Lord.
We ought to be living our lives as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing unto the Lord (Rom 12:1-2).
God has a deep desire for each of us to live holy lives, because He is holy and to only way to accept us fully is when our lives is cleansed by the blood of Jesus, and thereafter, wholly pursuing righteousness, allowing the sanctification processes of God’s ways and words to take root within. Moses had to remove his shoes before entering the holy ground… Lamb sacrifices used for offerings must be without defects…
Bride of Christ, the Church need to be presented blameless, without a spot or blemish in awaiting for Jesus to snatch them away… Holiness is who God is.
The greater the holiness, the greater the anointing of one in his/her race.
