So we did this thing where we warmup.  Side straddle hops, merkins, imperial storm troopers( I refuse to call them walkers), alternating toe touch.  That’s it.

We jogged past the power pole where everyone knows there’s a wire and inevitably someone yelled out “wire”. It’s what’s you do there.  We jogged to the parking lot at the bottom of Frye where hospital hill and cemetery hill converge.

We circle up ( circle jerk) around a kettle bell that’s patiently waiting to kick our asses.

Round 1:  Everyone does deep squats for form, not for most reps, while we’re squatting, we pass the kettle bell around, 20 kettle bell swings then pass, after your swings you do 20 merkins then continue the squats until all have done swings.  Run up cemetery hill, 20 merkins at the top, run down.

Round 2: Circle jerk, same thing, pass the kettle bell, blah blah blah, but a different group exercise of low planks.  After this we run 1/3 of the way up to the stoplight at 2nd Ave towards 1st Presbyterian, the final 2/3 we lunge walk, 20 merkins at the top, skip jump down… it’s more difficult than it sounds.

Round 3: Circle jerk again, same thing but we did a combo of big boy sit-ups and something else.  Run to the top of hospital hill, 20 merkins, run down, run up again and go back to the flag.  Goodwill led some ab work while everyone was on their way back and the kettle bell was triumphantly being retrieved by Dudley-do-right, Retread.

WOD was going to be some generic BS because I was feeling less than inspired then I just decided to talk about stress and wellness instead.

I’ve been absent from ER for a little while, it felt good to be back, hopefully one day we’ll be able to re-enter the parking deck.

Everyone felt very de-stressed after our group circle jerk.  You know what they say, men that come together (like arriving together in a group) tend to stick together (like a shield lock).  Get your mind out the gutter.

I heard a nice quote, it came from a church sign: If you eat the devil’s corn, you’ll choke on his cobb.  Take that however you want.
