Everyone has got to pay a visit to the OG. Not a finer AO across the region. What a pleasure to get to lead eight men for 45 minutes with some classic OG fun and some new fangled OG goodness. A few of us started with a little pre-run at 5am. Crop was a couple minutes late but we still made the full route. We passed Cuz’s fast moving rig about 1/4 mile in and he says that he tried to find us but he came up empty. There was some sweat on his brow when we returned so apparently he got in a mini run. Onto the real fun:
Circled up at 5:31 (yes 1 minute late but we made up for it) and YHC announced that we were headed out immediately for a mosey to the original OG stomping grounds. First up was 5 burpees on the corner of the Music Factory to get those SOB’s out of the way. This was the same corner where Sooner led us in the FBI physical fitness test regimen many moons ago. Speaking of Sooner – COME BACK! Nice mosey down the hill to the needle infested parking lot of the old OG for our traditional round of warmups. You know what they are. Next up was a mosey ALL the way to the county line! Probably the greatest feature to an OG workout is that fact that you can hit two counties (Catawba + Burke) in one workout! We literally straddled the line for a little group squat session. Flamer was really enthused at this point. Followed those up with 10 hand release merkins also straddling the line. Mosey to the steepest parking lot in the HKY. During the mosey we partnered up and learned our middle names. My favorite was “Paul” – that’s a first name but it’s ok. Partner BLIMPS up the parking lot hill. YHC was merciful and called Big Boy situps instead of stupid Burpees. Side note – incline Big Boys are literally impossible in that parking lot. Cuz rolled all the way back to Burke County. Finally we hit the scariest metal staircase in the HKY, you can’t do the old OG without a visit. We did a merkin on every other stair. Mosey up the hill and back to the luxurious new accommodations of the new OG. As usual Crop and Flex were so kind as to bring their assortment of kettle bells. Each pax member grabbed a bell and a parking spot across from their partner. We performed several moves with the bells – overhead presses, halos, bench presses, curls, rows, American hammers, skull crushers, squats and a farmers carry. Also thrown in there was a meet your partner in the middle lunge walk and a bear crawl partner merkin meet up, crawl bear back. Called it a day at 6:16 on the nose.

WOD – Cuz shared the terrible news from Abe’s region in Manning, SC regarding one of their pax who apparently shot his wife then turned the gun on himself. This was a guy that posted fairly regularly and they thought they knew him. Left behind two young children. Fellas, brothers, friends please make sure that you are truly “known” by someone or multiple people. Don’t take on the world and all its mess internally – we need to have folks that we can look in the eye and be real. That’s not an easy thing for a man to do but we must. Find that someone now – if you don’t have prospects I’ll be your guy – 828-308-3997. Actual WOD comes to us from 1 Chronicles 16:11 – “Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.”
F3 never disappoints and this morning was no exception!
Beaker out…
