QIC:  Hanger

Perhaps YHC should not play on the phone late at night. Especially as I’m starting my vacation early with an extra beer (or two) before heading to bed. Sometimes a call goes out for a Substi-Q, and bad decisions are made—at least bad decisions at 39 equal an early morning workout and not nicknaming myself Beercules and streaking the quad.

Anyway, I agreed to Q Infinity and set my alarm for gloom o’clock.

After rousing myself, I spent a little while trying to get moving, but I had more luck finding cute dog videos. Like this one: https://youtu.be/XZY4ovo5hjM  I finally got moving and found my way to the AO, where it seemed that Bismarck was the only one not watching cute animals this morning. He was in his normal stretch until 5:15, when PBR and Friar came in. “Do we need gloves, Hanger?” “Heck, yeah! We’re doing planks for days!”

”Lets begin…” YHC needed a bit more time to get in the headspace, and clear out some of those extra beer cobwebs. “First exercise, stretch on your own, and…and…just be quiet..for a minute.”

While stretching, we could hear distant music getting louder, louder. “Who’s got their subs pounding?” Thump, Thump, Thump—that last one was the sound of a Volvo powering over the speed bump. It’s Spokes! Feeling the Rhythm of the Night. 🎼 Come join the fun, this ain’t no time to be staying home. To the beat of the rhythm of the night, dance until the morning light. 🎶

He feels sad to have missed our strenuous warmup routine.

Recently, the Lenoir AOs have been rocked by allegations of running too much, but Infinity is specifically a run and move workout, so nothing to do but lean in and run a bunch with some pain stations. Let’s mosey. Half mile to church parking lot. YHC didn’t have much time to plan the morning, so I modified a soccer warmup routine. Use the lot lines, hip in, hip out, side shuffle, suicides. About half a mile total of back and forth in the lot.

Lets Mosey. 7/10 mile to Wilson Athletic Park. All the Pax were super excited to run on the new greenway extension. They said so. “I wanted to run here,” they said.

Stop in the lot to plank, side plank, alternate arm/leg up plank. Arm circles while balancing on one foot, reverse. It’s important to note that YHC counted a cadence and didn’t screw it up completely! Though the standing on one foot was somewhat less impressive. On your own, 15 squats with a full calf extension. I lost count, and waited for someone else to stop, but maybe we all lost count? I stopped somewhere around 20ish and others seemed to join me. Oh yeah, I guess I’m supposed to lead.  Mosey back to Church for merkins and Pull-ups. Mosey back to AO, but alternate dots with fast and slow running.

We’re home. It’s 5:57, but I’m done.

2.3 miles out and back, with the additional parking lot work, we came a lot closer to three total miles.

The word:

Ecclesiastes 9:10

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

Moleskin

  • Perhaps I should join FIA—yoga mats and no rain sounds pretty good to me.
  • Bismarck will never forget basic bike maintenance after a trip down the mountain at a somewhat faster pace than anticipated.
  • Spokes helped me while a was hallucinating extra dots at which to stop.
  • Workout not PBR approved. Only 400 calories😕. He promised to bring his stair master for his Q this Tuesday. Gosh, I’ll hate to miss that.
  • I forgot to do the count off and name-o-rama.
  • 4 miler Saturday. Chip timed! Free beer for the kids.
  • Dads camp starts tonight. Friar and Swinger are bunk mates. Who’ll snore louder?
  • Thank you, Friar, for leading the prayer.
  • Guess I should pack?

See you all in a week or so. Maybe Mickey will Q a workout on the ship.
