QIC:  Doughboy

It was a cold, 21 degrees this past Tuesday morning and Hickory didn’t know what was headed its way Wednesday.  The same could be said for the PAX at The Mount Tuesday morning.  It had been a few weeks since I last Q’ed so I wanted to make sure that the guys had a great workout.

Here’s how it went down.

Warm up (in cadence):

SSH x 15

Humpies x 12

Little Arm Circles x 10

Chinook’s x 10

ATT x 10

After the warm up, we moseyed to the assisted living facility parking lot for Burpees and Bear Crawls.  The idea was 30 seconds of burpees followed by 30 seconds of bear crawls repeated 2 more times for a total of 3 minutes of burpees/bear crawls.

After this we ran to our block pile behind Walgreens for my 500 rep challenge.  The idea is to do 5 different exercises for 100  reps each.  Here’s the order: 100 Block Bench Press, Block Overhead Press, Block Curls for the Girls, Block Rows, and Block Squats.  Seeing as several of the pax at The Mount are running in the P200 this year, we needed to get some extra cardio time in the workout.  We stopped after 50 reps and made one lap around Walgreens.  After the 500 reps, we had completed 10 laps around Walgreens.

We put the blocks up and headed back to the assisted living facility parking log.  Since the pax enjoyed the burpee/bear crawl exercise so much the first time, we did it again.  This time we only did it for 2 minutes.  We finished up here with Asheville Abs led by Patti Mayo.  After this, we headed back to the flag for COT, Name-A-Rama, and word of the day.

The word of the day was from James 4:14 – whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow.  For what is your life?  It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.  None of us know what will happen tomorrow.  A member of our Sunday School class lost her husband rather unexpectedly last Saturday morning.  The good thing is that he was ready to meet the Lord.  We all need to be ready to meet our maker.

It was great to lead the men at The Mount.  The Mount continues to add new PAX and is always ready for the challenge.
