QIC:  Cropduster (always the WD)

Cropduster got up even earlier than normal on this special day.  He rolled out of bed at 3:56am, was out the door with his dog Cooper at 4:10am, and was headed up to Stargate at 4:33am.   On the drive up he had a Rock ‘n Roll Reunion of sorts – hearing The Beatles “Revolution”, Van Halen’s “Dancing in the Streets”, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Gimme 3 Steps”, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and finally Boston’s “Rock and Roll Band”.  If you could only have heard me singing along and playing along – just when I thought it couldn’t get any better than Queen’s guitars, then came Boston’s own power sound.

So Crop detailed the route and it was time for our COT.

Ephesians 5:25 – “Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”  This verse has been on my heart lately.  As men of God and as husbands we are to make sacrifices for our brides, out of our love for her, and do all we can to honor her and protect and strengthen our marriages.

We were off.  The route was fun for me.  Spokes took off like the stud he is and killed this course with a 7:33 pace.  Friar stayed back with me and we tried to have some good conversation while navigating the hills and the turns.  The highlight of the course for me was running from McDonald’s, up Harper Avenue, right on Ridge all the way to Finley.  It’s a looong hill stretch and was both challenging and fun.  I “let” Friar carry the conversation during this segment!  🙂

Spokes finished way ahead of us, but met us for our last turn up Boundary Street for our dramatic finish.  While sitting around shooting the breeze once everything was done, it was revealed that this was Spoke’s 45th Birthday.  So he led us in 45 “real, good form” merkins.  No cupcakes, but we did have well wishes and a nice selfie.

It is always a pleasure to hang with the studs of Lenoir.

Is this the real life.  Is this just fantasy.  Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality.

Rock on!
