QIC:  Peaches

As one of the Redwood Originals of the newest Wednesday AO – Organ Grinder – I was graced with the opportunity to Q this morning. When preparing for the Q, I expected that there would be quite the crowd since said AO is acclaimed to be the best Wednesday AO in town, but to my surprise, there were only two brave PAX who showed up this gloomy morning for a Peaches Beatdown.

We started two minutes late because Publix had a bit of trouble finding the exact location for OG (props for finally showing up to OG), but that did not keep today’s workout from being full of suck, especially since I took some plays out of the ole’ Jordache playbook.

The Warm-Up

  • SSH – IC x 15
  • Humpies – IC x 15
  • Windmill – IC x 15
  • 10 Burpees OYO

The Main Thang

After a brief warm-up and disbelief from Publix that I would dare call 10 burpees for a warm up, we moseyed all the way to another county! I remember doing this our first time at OG and I thought it would be nice to keep that tradition going. After all, it is the most expansive AO this side of the Mississippi, right Cuz?

Upon crossing county lines, YHC called 25 more burpees (Burpee count = 35)

Then we moseyed back to good ole’ Cat-a-wah-ba Co to the flat AO parking lot.

Next Up – Moving Merkins (taken from Shaun T’s Insanity) – IC x 10, followed by a lunge walk across the parking lot, followed by more Moving Merkins – IC x 10, followed by a lunge walk back.

Next Up – Merkins IC x 15, followed by broad jumps across the parking lot, followed by more Merkins – IC x 15, followed by broad jumps back.

Next Up – 1-2-3 Squats IC x 12 followed by a sprint across the parking lot, followed by 1-2-3 Squats IC x 12, followed by a sprint back.

Next Up – Plank Jacks IC x 10 followed by a sprint across the parking lot, followed by Plank Jacks IC x 10, followed by a sprint back.

After a brief 10 count, we moseyed to the bottom of the ridiculously steep parking lot next to the flat parking lot.

Here I gave a brief history lesson on my days of running “Stone Mountains” as a football player throughout our stadium in high school and college. So this exercise was a modified version of that, which I call the “Concrete Mountain.”

  • Start at the bottom left corner of the Steep Parking lot hill – 20 Burpees (Burpee Count – 55)
  • Run up the hill to the top left corner – 20 Merkins
  • Run to the top right corner of the hill – 20 Squats
  • Run down to the bottom right corner of the hill – 20 Plank Jacks
  • Run to the end of the flat parking lot – 20 WWII Situps
  • Run to the bottom of really steep roadway next to the really steep parking lot – 20 Burpees (Burpee Count – 75)
  • Run to the really sketchy stairs, up those stairs, up the hill to the basketball court – 20 Incline Merkins
  • Run to the top of the really steep roadway next to the really steep parking lot – 20 Squats
  • Run down to the bottom of the really steep parking lot – 15 Burpees (Burpee Count – 90)
  • Run up the hill to the top left corner – 15 Merkins
  • Run to the top right corner of the hill – 15 Squats
  • Run down to the bottom right corner of the hill – 15 Plank Jacks
  • Run to the end of the flat parking lot – 15 Burpees (Burpee Count – 105)

After that, we had about 5 minutes left, so YHC added the icing on the cake.

We finished with some sprints and two gassers.

Final Burpee Count – 105 more than I’ve ever called for any of my other Q’s (I hate Burpees almost as much as Humpy).

WOD: Romans 12:12

Moleskin: Despite it being just 3 of us we had a solid beatdown. For whatever reason I decided I would try and punish the PAX by doing so many burpees, but little did I know, hardly anyone would show up to the “toughest” aka sketchiest AO in HKY – including said AOs Master Q. But, as always, a good time was had and we got better.

It’s always a pleasure.

I’m less without you all,

Peaches
