Got the call that I was on Q for today about 1930 last night. I had the Q for the Q Source call today anyway, so I said “Sure, why not?”.
Got to the AO a little early to drive a loop and re-familiarize myself with the area, solidified the route. Swanson had told me they’ve been running about 3mi at OG.
5 PAX show (2 others besides me struggling after the Iron Pax Challenge workout yesterday). Legs sore. Arms heavy.
Warm Up – SSH x 20 IC, Humpys x 15 IC, Windmill x 12 IC. Loose? No. Warm. Sorta
The Thang-
Route was N from Ridgeview Rec on 1st Ave SW to downtown, L on Gov’t Ave, cross the tracks and hop on new City Walk down Main Ave NW, at 9th St do a U-iey across the tracks and head back toward the Square via Main Ave SW, make a R on 4th St SW, mosey to new Exodus bldg and make a L on 7th Ave SW to climb the long slow hill back to Ridgeview Rec.
It took about 2.7 of the 2.9mi to warm up enough to not be sore.
Faster PAX regularly turned back to pick up the 6.
Swanson took off by himself when we all got back to the parking lot for an extra few meters. I think his watch was at like 2.92mi and he really likes when it buzzes at each mile.
Back at the AO still had a few minutes left for Mary. Included Dying Cockroach, RBCs, Flutter Kicks, Pretzels, Side Plank, maybe something else… The PAX were moaning so I extended the reps more than usual to push them a little. Everybody broke a good sweat.
Circle up, Count, Names.
WOD –
Psalm 139: 23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me a know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life”
I reminded the PAX that Guess What, God doesn’t need our invitation to know our hearts or anxious thoughts. That this prayer is really for us. God still likes it when we ask Him into our daily lives (even though he’s already there anyway). I’ve sometimes thought I don’t really want God or anyone else to search me, afraid of what they might “really” know about me. But God knows anyway. And when we ask God to point out anything that offends Him, we better get ready…b/c it’s in there, and He’ll gladly show you what he finds. It’s up to us to humbly ask for forgiveness, for healing, and for direction.
Notes:
- This is an awesome AO for anybody who says they’re “not a runner”. It is a run, though a slow pace, usually about 3mi. You can handle that
- I appreciate the faster guys circling back for the 6
- Swanson’s stories about man holes and unclogging poop pipes alone are worth a visit to the OG
- Have you ever been out of your car in Ridgeview, or on S Center St? I don’t think I had before this AO moving there. Now it was at 5:30am and very quiet, but what does that say about me and the bubble I live in? Hmm…makes ya think
